Josh (he/him) is a compassionate and experienced Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Counselling Therapist. He holds a diploma in Transpersonal Therapeutic Counselling from Clearmind International Institute and has specialized training in individual therapy, couples counselling, complex trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, Josh is a Laughter Yoga Instructor, Certified Health & Wellness Coach, and Keeping the Joy in Relationships Facilitator.
Having called Calgary home for over 40 years, Josh’s life experiences have deeply influenced his compassionate approach to counselling. As a child, his move from Ontario to Alberta brought the challenge of leaving behind familiar connections and starting anew. These early transitions, along with his personal struggles with anger, depression, and emotional disconnection, set the stage for his journey of healing and self-discovery.
Josh found inspiration in his partner’s dedication to improving their family’s relationships, which motivated him to reflect, grow, and embrace change. Through this process, he learned the value of addressing unresolved emotions, practicing honest communication, and validating both his own feelings and those of others. This transformative experience now drives his passion for helping clients overcome their challenges and build stronger, more meaningful relationships.
With firsthand insight into the pressures of industries that discourage emotional vulnerability, Josh understands the toll these environments can take, including burnout, addiction, and self-harm. As a therapist, he offers a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, and foster authentic connections with themselves and others.
Josh's Treatment Philosophy
Josh’s counselling approach is deeply relational, focused on fostering authentic and meaningful connections with his clients. He tailors each session to address their unique needs, ensuring a personalized and effective experience.
Creating a compassionate and non-judgmental space, Josh helps clients feel seen, heard, and supported. His work centers on building their confidence, enhancing self-awareness, and cultivating healthier relationships. Together, they explore past experiences and current challenges to identify the root causes of emotional triggers and relational difficulties.
By equipping clients with tools for emotional regulation and fostering deeper self-understanding, Josh empowers them to build stronger connections with themselves and others. His passion lies in helping clients lead more confident, connected, and fulfilling lives.
